Overview
Day 1, Introduction to BOQ & Quantity Surveying: the BOQ and its importance, the QS role, pre- and post-contract services, drawings, specifications and tender documents. Days 2-5, Preparing a full-project BOQ: take-off and a complete BOQ on a real example project. Day 6, Cost estimation & rate analysis: pricing BOQ items, rates for materials, labour, plant and subcontractors, overheads and profit, tender recommendation and award. Day 7, Post-contract QS & payments: reviewing subcontractor payments and issuing interim payment certificates. Prerequisites: working experience with spreadsheets (Excel) and AutoCAD.
